3DO
Fresh from the massive worldwide success of Alien Vs Predator for Atari, Jane was approached by the CEO of Electronic Arts, Trip Hawkins. At that time EA was the world's largest games company and had entered in to a joint venture with American communications giant AT&T and Matsuishita Panasonic. The joint venture was named 3DO.
The company was formed to focus on console game development for the US, European and Asian markets. Jane was asked to design, then develop and produce a major game that would appeal to all of the territories. Jane came up with the design of Power Crystal, a groundbreaking fantasy role playing game, with cross cultural appeal.
3DO funded Jane to create and manage a studio around the Power Crystal franchise, which would remain as Jane's personal IP, albeit published by 3DO. The opportunity was further enhanced by being asked to produce Power Crystal for the new M2 console. A new super console created and launched by 3DO around the world. Power Crystal, with Jane's team, now named Perceptions, was the only development team in Europe to work with the M2 console.
Power Crystal garnered accolades in the press, including being called a "Zelda killer" It was hailed for being one of the first large open world games on console and also for the incredible depth of the artificial intelligence of the characters.
